No matter where you are in the world, you likely know about the events in New York and Washington D.C. here in the US. There has been tremendous human cost in what appears to be a terrorist attack against these locations. CNN (or your news service of choice) is certain to have detailed information if you haven't been able to keep up with the news.

We hope that everyone reading this sends their thoughts toward the people involved in this tragedy.

Also, there is something that you, our readers, can do to help, regardless of whether you are in the physical area affected or not – donate blood.

Please, if you are able-bodied, call your local Red Cross donation center to see how you can donate. Blood is in short supply anyway in many parts of the country, and this event only makes the need more critical.

As of this writing, the Red Cross Web site is inaccessible, so check your local listings to determine where to go and whom to call. For more information, please check this story from a Los Angeles television station. For other information on how you can help, check out Helping.org.

Again, our thoughts go out to all those involved or impacted by this tragedy, and we at MacEdition urge all our readers to help in whatever way you can.
