I used to be indecisive but now I’m not so sure

Got a file but you’re not sure if you want to keep it, delete it or archive it? The folks at Mireth Technology may have the gadget you need with ToTheTrash!

ToTheTrash! gives you the flexibility to manage all those items (files and folders) that you’re keeping temporarily, you’re not sure what to do with yet, or that you’re keeping for a specific length of time. Just drop the item on the ToTheTrash!, specify how long to keep the item and ToTheTrash! will store it for you. If you do need the item, just retrieve it from the storage folder. If you don’t need it, ToTheTrash! will automatically delete it for you once it has expired.

[...]

ToTheTrash! features:

  • Easy-to-use “drag and drop” interface
  • Stores files or folders for retention period you specify (days, weeks, months, years)
  • Configure with the retention periods you use the most

ShuttlePro teams up

If you haven’t had a look at Contour Design’s ShuttlePro, it’s a device a little bit like the Griffin PowerMate (which we covered recently) but perhaps not quite as cool-looking. To make up for this, however, Contour has teamed up with a couple of software developers to provide customised support for the ShuttlePro in their applications.

The first of these partnerships is with Alias|Wavefront’s flagship 3D program, Maya:

Windham, NH June 3, 2002 – Contour Design continued improving their award-winning ShuttlePro Multimedia Jog & Shuttle controller today with the release of pre-programmed settings for Alias|Wavefront’s Maya 3D animation software. These pre-programmed settings make it possible to control Maya’s keyboard-based functions with the ShuttlePRO, giving users another easy, fast, intuitive way to create and edit content in Maya. The settings are available for free and immediate download from the Contour Design website at www.contourdesign.com http://www.contourdesign.com/shuttlepro_drivers.htm.

About the Contour ShuttlePro:

The Contour ShuttlePro Multimedia Controller provides natural and total control over audio, video, graphics, and animation software. As a programmable input device and powerful control surface, the ShuttlePro offers multimedia editing capability that a computer mouse and arrow keys can’t deliver, and its 13 programmable buttons let users work faster and more easily than ever before by placing total control at their fingertips. The ShuttlePro connects to computers via USB port, and is compatible with Apple® Macintosh® OS 8.6 – 9.2, OS X, Microsoft® Windows® 98, 98SE, Me, 2000, and XP operating systems.

Pricing and Availability

The ShuttlePro is priced at MSRP $125.00 (USA), with an average street price of $99.95 through major retailers, catalog houses or dealers. Maya Complete 4 is priced at $1,999 (US) and includes modeling, rendering, animation, dynamics, Artisan, Paint Effects and Maya Embedded Language (MEL), an open interface for programming and scripting. Maya Unlimited 4 is priced at $6,999 (US) and includes Maya Fur™, Maya Cloth™ and advanced modeling features. Maya is available through the Alias|Wavefront network of authorized resellers or may be purchased online at: http://www.aliaswavefront.com

The second partnership is with the folks from Sonic Foundry, makers of Sound Forge 6:

Windham, NH June 6, 2002 Contour Design continued improving the award-winning ShuttlePro jog and shuttle controller today by announcing their cooperative development and product support effort with Sonic Foundry, Inc. With Sonic Foundry’s enhancements to their popular line of software products, combined with newly released device settings from Contour Design, the ShuttlePro has become a truly integrated control surface for Sound Forge 6.0 that makes it easier, faster and more productive to edit audio timelines. The ShuttlePro settings for Sound Forge 6.0 are available for free and immediate download from the Contour Design website at www.contourdesign.com. The two companies also announced they are cooperating with each other to provide enhanced cross-product support in future software releases from Sonic Foundry.

Sound Forge 6.0 began shipping on May 7, 2002, and was optimized by Sonic Foundry to accept commands from the Contour ShuttlePro. Contour Design simultaneously developed device settings for controlling Sound Forge 6.0 with the ShuttlePro. Contour also provides pre-programmed settings for other industry-leading software titles such as ACID™ Vegas® Video and other popular audio and video editing packages.
