NMR Media, LLC, the parent company of MacEdition, is interested in helping prevent further erosion of the old Mac Web domain pool.

As noted on Applelinks (here, here and other sites), expiring domains that have “link equity” – that is, people that continue to check these links from habit or bookmark – are being snapped up by operators who have no interest in serving the community of the former owner. More often than not, these domains now point to porn or search directories.

If you are responsible for a Mac Web domain that you're going to let expire or that you otherwise no longer want, please contact info@nmrmedia.com. Tell us about your site, the traffic, the content, etc., and what you'd be looking to get out of the site, and NMR Media might arrange to protect the domain.

We're not going to do this for every Web domain that has “Mac” in the name, but there are several domains and archived sites out there that represent the history of the independent Mac Web that are better served than by being “porned out to pasture.”

Contact NMR Media if you're interested in pursuing this program.
